Nobody would have expected that MySpace would make money.
Its actually doing better than expected. Market analysts are pegging
the market to hit $860+ million next year and go to $2+ billion
by 2010. I think this is getting plain crazy. If a typical marketing
spend is 10% of what your potential revenue, are we saying
companies are going to generate sales leads worth $20+ billion
dollars from social networking websites? A typical user on this
website is interested in hooking up with other people with similar
interests, or find friends and have a good time. The intent is not
directed towards a buy, unlike a search engine site. I don’t think
people who are supposed to be spending here, really
understand the user base.
